Come one, come all—this year’s Bids for Kids gala, a Night of Wonder, promises circus-themed fun for everyone! Why a circus? Co-chairs Corey and Stacey Anderson and Tom and Sarah Johnston were looking for a new theme synonymous with fun, wonder, and a roaring good time.
The annual St. Michael Catholic School (StMCS) fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 5:00-11:00 PM, in the social hall at St. Michael Catholic Church. In addition to dinner and longstanding attractions like live and silent auctions and raffles, this year’s event will include new attractions like a planned whiskey pull, new auction items, and a fun new dessert.
This is the second year Bids for Kids has been in the social hall, and hosting the gala at the parish has only enhanced the event. Last year’s fundraiser garnered more than $260,000, and StMCS would love to beat that number this year.
“Who doesn't love a good circus?” says Corey. “It’s an evening with friends to support a school we all love. Giving back to the kids while building community is a win-win for everyone."
“It feels so good to be surrounded by people who share your same mission and goals,” Stacey says. “Working together to make StMCS the best possible school while having fun is the perfect night out."
“We all agree that having it at our own parish adds so much to the event. Not only is it convenient, it’s a beautiful space that we can feel at home in,” Tom says. “Everyone should attend—it’s an investment in the future of our kids and of our faith!”
The Andersons and Johnstons have chaired Bids for Kids for the past few years and will be stepping away after this spring. If you are interested in helping to organize the event going forward, now is the perfect time to learn the ropes.
“It takes dedication, but the feeling you have watching everything and everyone come together makes it all worth it,” Stacey says.
Tom and Sarah agree.
“The satisfaction of creating an event that brings the community together is amazing,” Tom says.
“We have made lifelong friends that we may not have met without working so closely together,” Sarah adds. “Sometimes, with kids and jobs, life feels like a circus—so why not enjoy it?”
STEP RIGHT UP
Interested in being part of next year’s Bids for Kids team? Email the Bids for Kids team to throw your hat in the ring! “Every list and spreadsheet will be passed on, and you are welcome to follow our lead or create an event that fits next year’s goals," Corey says. The key, the team agrees, is to remember that Bids for Kids attracts a wide range of people who want to feel like they belong to the StMCS community—and that it's always for the kids!
