Hello all! My name is Deacon Nick Vance, and I will be serving at St. Michael this summer as a transitional deacon as I continue my seminary formation onto priesthood. I received the great privilege of being ordained a deacon on May 13th, and I’ll be working this summer with wherever Fr. Park needs me.
This is actually not my first time serving out here in St. Michael; I was privileged to work for John O’Sullivan in the youth programs back in 2016 and 2017 as a youth ministry intern while I was still in undergrad. It’s great to be back!
A bit about me: I am the third of six kids, the son of a carpenter and a Catholic school teacher from West St. Paul, MN. I graduated from St. Agnes High School in 2014 and attended the University of St. Thomas, graduating with degrees in Catholic Studies and Journalism in 2018. During that time, the Lord started to pull on my heart in a new way, drawing me into deeper relationship with Him, and ultimately leading me into seminary. I entered seminary right after graduating, and the Lord has blessed me in some incredible ways as I’ve gone through, including leading me into the Companions of Christ. I love reading, playing guitar, any and all sports (especially soccer and softball), and amateur woodworking. I am excited to meet all of you! Feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]
I am especially excited to jump into all the amazing things that are going on here at St. Michael! I have a particular devotion to the Holy Spirit, and one of my favorite things in the whole world is seeing people come alive in the Holy Spirit as they receive the healing power of Jesus. Let’s all find ways to continue to welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives, that we could be the disciples that God is calling us to be!
